FanDuel betting app crashes at the worst time
The FanDuel Sportsbook app’s night started about as well as Alabama’s and Tua Tagovailoa’s.

The betting app crashed right before kickoff of the national championship game between Alabama and Clemson — scheduled to kickoff at 8 p.m. — because of a “system maintenance upgrade,” according to the official FanDuel Customer Support account on Twitter.

“We are working on getting back up and running as soon as possible,” FanDuel wrote on the account at 8:13 p.m. “We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.”

The issue kept people from placing last-minute bets on the game, which saw Tagovailoa throw a pick-six on the Crimson Tide’s opening possession.

About 15 minutes later, FanDuel encouraged people to log in and place bets on the desktop version of the sportsbook as it was working on getting the app up “as soon as possible.” The app was declared working again at around 9 p.m.

DraftKings took a moment to needle FanDuel, placing a waving emoji in a retweet of Action Network’s Darren Rovell tweeting about the outage.

What's annoying is, you have to be hooked to wifi in order to use your computer for location reasons. My desktop doesn't have a wifi connection. Why would that matter???

They have zero experience here. Everyone in the business knows you test any change to a website prior to actually going live. In the Sportsbook business they have a massive learning curve. Another poor decision was to go live on NCAA championship night. Customer experience is EVERYTHING these days.

NO! FanDuel is an excellent book. DraftKings sucks, high juice, will cut limits to near zero.
