DALLAS – Due to the presence of persistent weather in the greater Dallas area, Wednesday’s First Responder Bowl game between Boston College and Boise State was cancelled after about 10 minutes of play.

Bowl officials met and determined the threat of lightning strikes was a public safety issue and could not go on. Following a BC punt that put the Broncos on their own 14 with 5:08 to play in the first, the field and stands were evacuated for under the threat of lightning, which arrived fast and furious.
BC finishes the season 7-5 and 4-4 in the ACC while Boise State is 10-2, 7-1.

Before the game was called, BC’s opening drive went according to coach Steve Addazio’s script. The Eagles went 75 yards on eight plays and ended with a Dillon 18-yard run through the middle of the Broncos defense to make it 7-0 with 9:41 to play. Brown used play action to complete three passes for 39 yards.
Unfortunately the fast start goes for naught.

Fukking idiots. Why didn't they start the game earlier if they had bad weather? I mean this is the year 2018. We have weather satellites and every other gadget in the world to predict weather and no one thought to start the game at 10:00 am.

Betting on bowl games seems like theres more surprises and variables that throw off the game than normal.

Last year some minnesota players got suspended for gang banging some hos or something like that.

I would've thought they'd wait it out. A lot of travel and expenses associated with the game to just give up after an hour or so of waiting.

Plus why did they even start the game? The clowns in charge handled it very poorly.

the boise state guy kept fukking tweeting about how he didn't want long or multiple delays because he and the team were flying commercial out of dallas tonight... then he is shocked that they cancel it when he is one of the jackasses responsible.

hopefully the pussification of sports will stop at some point, it's totally ridiculous that a harmless bolt of lightning 8 miles away creates a 30 minute + delay

They could have bused everyone to Cowboys stadium and play the game at night. No contigency plans.

Not much they can do. The logistics of moving or replaying a bowl game might just be too much.
