Anyone familar with Costa Rica...

So for the 3rd time I saw a grown Costa Rican man crying in public.

He did not look poor, or homeless or anything of the such.

1- was at Colonial Casino San Jose at 9am. Guy was eating breakfast in absolute tears. Well dressed.

2- was at Patagonia steakhouse Tamarindo. Guy was just sitting at table crying, eating some form of pizza. Well dressed.

3- at pool/ beach here in Flamingo guy just sitting looking out at ocean and crying. Was dressed beach appropriate and certainly not poor.

Can anyone local here tell me what issues these men are dealing with? It's rather bizzare. At first I assumed guy 1 lost at casino but now I think there's a cultural or relationship dynamics I'm unaware of....

Ive traveled a lot and never seen men crying in public...or if they wanted to they'd hide it.

These guys were bawling. Just figured someone would be aware of some issue to enlighten me as to their emotions...

Well the point being that it's occuring in public so it becomes a spectacle.

If the men take it to their home or car or bathroom sure, ill butt out....but when it's in your face one sort of has to inquire...
