Of course they can, but not likely. If the Saints ML goes any higher (>270), then the Panthers are toast.

However, I read this and it may give them some motivation.

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton said the broom hanging in his locker, something that was "gifted'' to him last season after the Saints swept three games against their NFC South rival, is motivation for Monday's night's game against New Orleans.

There were two games in Carolina that closely resemble tonight's game as far as the spread goes.

On Nov 7, 2010, the Saints opened at -6.5 and closed at -6.0, and they crushed the Panthers 34-3. That does not count as the Panthers were horrible then.

On Oct 9, 2011, the Saints opened at -7+01 and closed at -6.5-15 and they won 30-27. I'm can only guess that tonight's game could be like that game, but who the heck knows which team shows up for the Panthers.

If you look at it simply without analyzing too much, then the Saint should be able to crush the Panthers as the Panthers just cannot keep up with the Saints even if the Panthers show up for the game.

But like they say, any given day in NFL.

The Panthers have been a different team the since the Seattle game. I believe Cam got hurt in that game. The offense was on point in that game first 3 quarters, but the defense could not stop a Pop Warner team. Now Cam is playing like shit and they still can’t stop anyone. Panthers will need to put 35-40 on the board tonight to win. Brees is going to carve up the secondary

In theory Saints should play all out tonight. Win tonight and next week and they lock up #1 seed for NFC and can rest week 17.

You would have to think they will lay it all out on the line tonight. Playoff hopes still very much alive. Problem is they simply aren’t a very good team.
