Espn article on why more nhl scoring this season
Scoring is up this season, and Alex Ovechkin isn't the only one who's pumped about it. What's behind the offensive boom? Referees who are willing to enforce the rule book and an influx of cheap, fearless young laborers.

It may be a combination of these but specifically I agree 100% w the offensive zone strategy.

It used to be a league of "dump and chase" but now teams bring the puck across the line and under control. They set up a shot w a FWD in position for a rebound. Teams are getting higher quality 2nd and 3 attempts during drives into offensive zone.

In the past it was dump, chase, set up 1 shot or change possession.

They put some chemicals in the ice and the forwards are skating faster now. For some reason they think that people like to watch 7-5 games instead of 3-1 games. I like the old NHL where the goals were hard to come by.

No major sports are the same anymore.
Many reasons for this, books could be written.
NHL got rid of the two-line pass rule just one example

Funny thou, in CR here at the kiosk they are set 5.5 with extreme juice.

Have to use alt lines to find a -110 or better
