This thread is completely wrong. Gamblers (the losing ones which is about 99%) are not cheap, they are just very bad with money and can't afford things most of the time. These gamblers are far from cheap when they win or have money because they are very bad with money. When these guys hit big once in a while or go on lucky streak, they will almost always over tip and if they manage to cash out they would end up overspending on extravaganzas.

Now the 1 % who wins are grinders and are very good with money. These are the ones that you can label as cheap. They will try to find value in everything from lines (odds) to what they buy in terms of goods and services. And these guys also tip very small even if they hit it big.

Moral of the post is that the 1% are the ones doing it right.

That reminds of a time that I was in a Red Robin and saw an old friend of mine sitting at the bar. I flagged the waitress down and told her that it was his birthday. A few minutes later a staff of people came out clapping their hands and singing some birthday song with a lit cake. After they gathered around him I can hear him say "But it's not my birthday".

you know what might be an interesting study? I would predict that many of the people that disagree with JJ are pros and many that agree are not. Once met my friend in vegas and i had a free hotel lined up since im a high roller i get it comped so told him he could crash on the extra bed.....anyways he wanted me to go eat at in and out on the strip....never been there before since i live on east coast.....he lost all his money the night before playing craps so im like wow this pathetic im in vegas and my cheap ass friend from college wants to go eat at in an out. I wanted to go to a nice steakhouse but he said he couldnt afford it lol. Moral of the story is it sucks hanging out with cheap people.
