Why did line move from NW -3 to NW +3?

Wondering myself. Local radio here (Gophers) keep touting the D-Coordinator change as a reason for optimism here for the Gophers. They’ve been talking about an emotional NW Win last week and looking ahead to Indianapolis. Now these reasons are just the radio guys so there’s gotta be more to it.

I can’t seem to figure out this Gophers team. I faded them against Illinois and won. I faded them against Purdue and lost. Northwestern always plays us tough. Fitzgerald is one heckuva coach. I took NW too.

I see line moves a lot of the time as free points. Bookies are usually smart with their openers. A lot of factors come in to play though. Cat and mouse game.

Should be obvious, no? Last two games are meaningless for Northwestern since they are already in the Big Ten Championship Game and are already knocked out of College Football Playoff contention, basically taking away all motivation. That does not mean they cannot win of course, but Minnesota is the only team here with anything to play for, trying to become bowl eligible.

There are a lot of players that chase steam. That being said - books can play games - deke players - that line opened right at 3 1/2 Northwestern. Let's say all the bets are coming in on Northwestern - 7 might not stop it. Let's say somebody like Pinny - takes a shot - starts moving the line to Minnesota - the illusion of steam (no definitive other reason why the line moved) and they tricked steam followers into taking Minnesota and stop taking Northwestern???

Because of coaches like Kirk Ferentz,who despite running it down Nebraska’s throat all day, felt that running the ball on third @nd goal was a bad move and decided to pass it and then on 4th down run a fake field goal from the 3 instead of kicking a field goal to go up 3 scores.....that’s how. If I ever saw him that night I would have punched him in the face and he would have deserved it.
