Astros Had Made Deal For Bryce Harper
The Astros had a trade in place for Harper on July 30, but the deal collapsed when Washington Nationals ownership refused to approve the move, according to major-league sources.

For Harper, the Nationals would have obtained right-hander J.B. Bukauskas, the Astros’ No. 8 prospect according to MLBPipeline.com, and two other minor leaguers, sources said. Catcher Garrett Stubbs, the team’s No. 15 prospect, was in play, and the Nationals would have received another, low-level, minor-league pitcher as well.

The package was far better than the compensatory pick the Nationals will receive after the fourth round of the 2019 draft if Harper turns down their qualifying offer on Monday, as expected, and eventually signs with another club.

Any AL team that pays Harper is dumb. Bryce Harper is a product of the NL which is a complete Bush League. He'll be a slightly above average player in the American League. Everybody that goes from the NL To the AL becomes drastically worse.

Lol, owned. I could see the argument that pitchers going from the NL to AL drop off, but hitters? No, no, no.

I actually really thought harper was going to be all star type player nearly every year then he had the terrible batting average in a contract year now I'm unsure, that batting average must of cost him some big bucks

He's insane. He's not worth half that money. Doubt he'll get that offer from anyone again

A gigantic deal wouldn't be on the Chris Davis-Orioles scale, but it would be in the same ballpark.

Bryce Harper is not Postseason material.

Never won a series playing on stacked teams year after year. The Nats should take it as a blessing in disguise that he rejected their offer; use that money to get some starters and they might be a dark horse team next year.

Reason nats didn’t trade him? They figure he would take a hometown discount 10 year $300 million - but nope he wants $400 - so they gamble and lost out on a few prospect - performance wise harper is not worth the money ? But he can put people in the seats -

OPS of .8996. Only Trout and Stanton under 30 with better.

Batting average is and old-school way of evaluating players these days.

Most people that understands baseball knows Stanton isn’t a good hitter
