It was a chess move for Counsell, he starts LHP Miley knowing that Roberts would start Freese and Kike instead of Pederson and Puig. Dodgers have a lot of hitters with really good/bad splits.

Yeah so if Miley was "hurt" or get sick or something warming up and they were going to start another pitcher, the Dodgers would have the option to adjust their lineup as needed. Miley didn't even have to finish the at bat, he could throw just 1 pitch and they could pull him and then the Dodgers would still be screwed.

It's a little bush for sure, we used to do similar stuff in tournament play against teams that weren't familiar with us. Have a LHP warming up in the pen before the game and then actually start a RHP or vice versa. The move the Brewers did today is very rare and can't remember a playoff game where anything like that has happened.
