#5Just another scam dreamed up by some group of thieves. They've been trying to attract visitors to AC for 50 years; it's all been a waste of time and money for 90 percent of that time.Comment -

What started as a smart idea becomes a cash cow for offshore books. They didn't have to do anything. They just let the US legalize gambling then wait for them to get greedy. US builds up more interest in sports gambling then offshore gets most of them when they smarten up seeing the extra fees they are paying on wagers. The politicians these days could fuk up a wet dream.

#8The northeast is the worst place to live in terms of cost of living. Im in CT...same shit. 350k for a house built in the 1950s. 10k for .25 acres of property. 1500 a year in car taxes. Yes...property tax on cars in CT. BrutalComment -

#11Folks in Greenwich, Connecticut brag about how much less their property taxes are compared to NY, Westchester right over the border. But they don't mention the other stuff.Originally posted by RenegadesThe northeast is the worst place to live in terms of cost of living. #13Exactly. Total non story. They are making so much money, NJ wants a bigger cut. As long as the players aren't affected, who cares who makes more money, the state, or the Books.Originally posted by BluehorseshoeIt's not for the players.Comment -

Less room for reduced juice and promotional offers.
And it smells a lot like greed making a change to increase it just months in..Comment -

#15It's actually an extra tax, on top of others already in place, being tacked on to the books. It follows no bets being allowed at the racetracks way back in the summer, until the AC books were able to get set up.Originally posted by BluehorseshoeIt's not for the players.
In theory you're correct, in practice it will come out of player pockets. AND... while it seems small at 1½%, I believe it's on the gross-- so very substantial actually.
Whatever amount it is, it's not conducive to -102 lines. They're already horrible--some @-125, this cannot help.
Next week I'll head to NJ and compare all 8 online offeringsComment -

#19I disagree. They're not passing it on to the customers if they're making their nut. It's not like any other business that sells a product and is forced to do so. People could just go offshore if it gets crappier.Originally posted by OptionalOf course the players are affected each time the regulator/state take more tax.
