Why do the Asians always bend the shit out of the cards?

They are peeking at the suit symbols for a sweat. So if you peek on one side and see 3 clubs you know your card is at least a 6 7 or an 8. 4 suits on a side means a nine which is usually good or a ten which is bad. Then they do stuff like blowing on the card to "blow away" the symbols in the center to "change" a possible ten into a 9.
