Other than trying to trick people into thinking your smart?

Explanation given, you don’t have a dead spot in front of best hitters. Instead you put a guy with a better chance to get on base in front of better hitters.

I think it’s another one of those analytics things where guys want to be the smartest in the room, and there’s more downfall to it than anything. Although with how much bullpens pitch not sure it matters as much anymore as most ABs in the spot will be a PH

Both leagues should be the same. I like making the pitcher hit and think it adds more strategy, but if NL adopted Dh wouldn’t be mad. But they should both be the same.

Pretty sure it started with Larussa or Madden. Two managers that have to show everyone how smart they are

It probably is correct if you have a leadoff guy with a ton of power.

Casey Stengel and Lou Boudreau did it in the 50's; was foolish then and now.

If its driven by analytics it really goes against the analytic driven idea of batting your best hitter 2nd instead of 3rd or 4th.

You want him to get the most possible at bats. Just like you want thr pitchers spot to get the fewest possible at bats.

You get a leadoff hitter in the 9th and 1st spots
