Who's with me that can't wait until the NHL drops the puck for the regular season...
There's going to be some new comers to the league that are going to make a splash.
Going to be an exciting year for hockey fans all over.

I am ready. Hockey is a sport, where you can watch any two teams and enjoy the contest. So much talent. We need to enjoy the next two years before 2020 lockout/strike. My season pass is ready.

Getting colder outside. Giving me a feeling of wanting to watch and bet NHL.
Could have a go at the Russian KHL. Few weeks in now.

As a Canadian who grew up watching and playing hockey I can't watch much more. Only playoffs and the odd regular season game

You think the game got watered down like the NFL?

Yes to some degree. The players don't compare with the guys I grew up watching.

Couldn't disagree more. These guys play all 82 regular season games, NBA guys mail in a 1/4 of their games.

I like the game, love NHL playoffs, but with baseball and football, just too many players and shifts to get familiar with.
Oh sure I can name the stars, but I can't tell you who plays on what teams second line, or who's what teams backup goal tender is.

MLB is a joke as well because there's no salary cap, and some teams can afford the 'best' players.
The only reason there's a bit of parity is because of the sport itself being unpredictable, baseball being king when it comes to "any team can beat another on any given day", and most importantly, a superstar cant carry a team nearly as much as in other sports.

Technicaly you are correct, there is no salary cap, baseball has a luxury cap.
Here's the definition.
It also includes a 12% surtax on the $40 million above the $195 million payroll, and 42.5% for the total amount above $235 million. The luxury tax threshold will rise to$197 million for the 2018 season.
And out of the top ten teams with the biggest payrolls, four of them suck ass, they are.
Toronto, SF Giants, and two teams that should be there Nationals and Angels.

big payrolls do not equate to wining in baseball
we are finding out lower salary players just or more effective as high paid ones

2015 Royals-won the World Series
2014 Royals-lost in the World Series
2008 Tampa Rays-lost in the World Series
2007 Rockies-lost in the World Series
2005 White Sox-won the World Series
2003 Marlins-won the World Series
2002 Angels-won the World Series
All these teams were low salary teams that had success.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have been the Stanley Cup favorites at virtually every book All Summer Long. Personally I would love to book some reverse action on that.
The Montreal Canadiens & the Ottawa Senators will struggle to win 20 games.
The Capitals are overvalued as well.
The Tampa Bay Lightning, the Winnipeg Jets, and the Nashville Predators are all live contenders
