Very true. People don't realize that Florida is a pretty poor state. The state economy is tourism. They do NOT have a lot of big corporate sponsors like other states and for some reason they like it that way. The state does nothing to attract big business. My biggest gripe with the retired AD Jeremy Foley was his stinginess in building facilities. We didn't have an indoor football practice facility, the stadium is old as dirt and the locker room was outdated. You go to these other programs and their facilities are way ahead, they look 21st century with technology. Recruits see it.
Another big factor is that Florida people have too much to do in the state, so they don't support most sports. They're not going to a baseball game, when they could be at the beach. This is even for the pro teams too. So you don't have the high ticket revenue for most sports but football, so the football program has to pay for all the other programs. There's very few big boosters that can $$$ to the schools, like oil money people in Texas.Comment
