Notre Dame has a really good team this year. Defensively they are tough. What's killed them in past years has been injuries at the end of the season and they've had problems in those final road games at Stanford and USC. Another problem for them this year is they have a very tough schedule. They have to play Va. Tech and USC on the road (and Va Tech looks really good tonight). They also have Stanford, Florida State and I believe Boston College. That's not even counting a road game at NW who will prolly be a top-20 team this year. Florida State and Miami were an embarrassment.
Michigan isn't even in the conversation. Their offense was tough to watch but that wasn't a shocker. Miami and FSU had returning starters at quarterback in neutral and home fields respectively. Shea Patterson was making his first start in a Michigan uniform on the road in a tough environment, absent one UM's best WR's who was injured in preseason.
Michigan's biggest lapses came after the defense had made plays on fourth down to force a punt only to have Notre Dame get a reprieve due to personal fouls and automatic first downs which they then turned into big plays shortly thereafter. The two teams really weren't that far apart, save for those big swing plays, and finished with approximately the same total yardage.Comment -
