yah we both have kerber beating serena in the finals, i wish they had an option to change ur finals pick after 1st round or 2nd i would def put serena as champ and take out kerber she's really struggling and i don't remember her serve being this bad

Yeah that'd be good. It'd at least take some of the crapshoot aspect out of it. I remember years ago, maybe for a leadup tourney, myself and another guy ran a contest where people put picks in either every day or every round. Even with only 15-20 entries it was complete lunacy but I wish I could come up with a way to do it for the major non-Slams. I seriously need to learn how to computer code.

I love the contests Shari, butbit seems that maybe we give too many points near the end. It sorts of makes the opening 2 rounds not even matter.

I was thinking like increase the points just 1 point per round. Thhat would make the finals worth 7 points i think

Now that I made the above statement, I am glad for the rules of 30 points ot this winner this year as it is my only chance to win some points!

If somehow Federer wins it all then I might place pretty high. Esp is Nadal comes in second. On the ladies side, I need Serena to win it all, but then again alot of people took Serena to win it all

if the finals were only worth 7 points would be impossible make up any ground if u get behind also the 1st round would be like the whole contest because of how many matches, also what's nice is the tennis channel service sets up the bracket and all grading the matches and points so it's alot easier than doing everything by hand if u were to change the point system

Well I do like the Tennid Channel grading format, it just almost doesnt seem fair that hypothetically someone could be in last place (losing most everything) and maybe they take some unusual winner like Thiem for instance and he wins and that person goes from last to first while having maybe one of the worst winning pick %.


But it does save alot of time use Tennis Channel. And this format is my only chance at finishing in the top 3 in either contest

When I first started running these years ago the points were distributed a bit differently with less given in the later rounds than they are now. But there'd be people who would complain that some were loading up on points in the early rounds when there are a lot of lopsided matches and I think we eventually realised that the reason the TC gave points like that was because it really is difficult to pick players starting from say the fourth round on, let alone the semis or winner. Too many variables in there between injuries, upsets, etc so people should be rewarded for correctly predicting the outcome of matches that far into the tourney.

And really if someone picks a random player to win and that gives them a boost to finish on top when the rest of us picked what are thought to be obvious choices then I actually think they deserve it. I only ever hope they put some real $ on it pre-tourney as well. Plus yeah using their platform makes things way easier for everyone I think.

This is important!

I remember trying to participate in one of these in 2015 or 2016 and I quit immediately after realizing it would take 3+ hours to fill out a bracket. And I can't live without a freebie lol

Yeah just filling out the brackets were hard enough but then I'd have to reformat a heap of them because there were always people who sent it in differently to everyone else. And then of course the scoring was an absolute pain in the butt especially with the differences in time zones. Even though TC can be a bit slow to update and glitchy once in awhile, it really does make it easier to run and participate in.

Looks like I get 4th/5th (comes down to tiebreaker) either way, no matter what happens in Finals (I have Serena to win). Kind of strange how my placing can't change given that, but since I guess all the ones at the top have Serena to win and no one picked Osaka, guess it can work out that way!
