—— NHL - Toronto maple leafs will party like it’s 1967?
Yes, on paper they have one of the deadliest offensive attacks in all of hockey, some strong defensemen and a great net minder, but the Leafs are a long way from reaching the heights of Stanley Cup champions.

The Leafs were one of the worst teams in the NHL last season from a shots-allowed perspective and until they’ve proven they can get that under control, you can’t put them as Stanley Cup Favorites.

If there is one area that could doom the Leafs to missing out on the playoffs all together, it’s their defensive core. You simply can’t win the Cup if a 38 year old Ron Hainsey is on your top pairing.

Last year, the defense allows teams to shoot as much as they want. Last season Leafs goalies (Andersen, Curtis McElhinney, and Calvin Picard) faced 2,767 shots. That’s 33.7 shots per game. When seeing numbers like that it’s a miracle Andersen didn’t allow more goals.

They could use a defensively elite forward, and a couple right handed defenseman. Upgrades are needed.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are getting close, but they still need some upgrades before we can take that betting line seriously. The Leafs are on the way up. The rebuild is over, but that doesn’t mean the transition to serious contender is instantaneous.

Lost some scoring depth even with the additions.
    Defense is weak overall
    Goalie is average at best.

    2nd/3rd round exist best case...

Odds are a joke and hyped.

Vegas will be lucky to make playoffs.
Can't wait for their win total odds.

They will be a great regular season team. I’m looking to bet them to win presidents trophy, but haven’t seen anywhere offering it. It becomes a different game in the playoffs and their soft group will wilt. They are an incredibly soft roster.

Agree with Leafs putting up some wins

Initial thought was they could do something in the playoffs also, but I need to think about this further

                    Thanks for the post

How many days until start of the NHL season?!?!?

Look out when they add a few defensive guys before the playoffs start -

Damn that hawks point total is depressing af

We could see an all Canada Stanley cup. What a world we live in.

Trump is gonna be so mad.

Toronto isn’t even the best team in their division. Toronto has a terrible defense for a playoff team and goalie isn’t in the top 10. In Playoff hockey you can’t score 5 goals a game like Toronto might be capable of during the regular season. In the east I would probably bet 4 teams before I bet Toronto to win the cup. I’m sure you can figure which 4 teams. Canada hockey teams are usually overhyped just like ny teams are in every other sport by the media. Giants and Jets are still terrible but you don’t hear that from very many media people.

I agree Toronto soft as charmin compared to the other 4 teams I think are better in the east. If Toronto had 3 of the 4 teams starting goaltender as the Toronto goalie I would rethink my statement but FA isnt no murray or holtby or the russian in Tampa and I might even take Rask above FA.
