Like if you want to know a historical playoff stat, do you consider those games?
Or is this more a subjective thing. I would think the teams involved view it as a playoff. The TV plays that game as well.

Not just the MLB hman, we've seen the definition of a catch be revised and a tuck rule just get created
One rules TD, the other a touchback...

If you take the human element out of any sport what do you have ?
Hman how many times have you stood behind the dish and called balls & strikes with pitches coming at you at 100mpg from 60’6”Comment -

Officials in other sports make mistakes.
That's understandable.
And that's very different.
But the MLB blatantly turns their eyes on their umpires ignoring the rules of the game, and not only allows them to make up their own when it comes to the strike zone, but also changing it from game to game.
It's the main reason I despise the game.
Time to go to the electronic device calling balls & strikes & no reason they shouldn't have already made the change.Comment -

#13So it’s different if a referee in the NFL misses a call that decides a game as opposed to an umpire who may have a slightly diff strike zone then the previous one but calls it consistent for both teams ? It’s part of the game. Good bad or indifferentOriginally posted by HmanOfficials in other sports make mistakes.

Of course it's different.
I explained already that the NFL ref, for example, might miss a call.
That's a mistake.
Clearly & completely different than an umpire who totally IGNORES the rules & official strike zone, and creates his own.
And the league has allowed this forever.
Just makes no sense to me.
It would be like an NBA ref ignoring the defensive 3-second rule inside the lane because in his mind he has moved it out farther to the 3pt line.Comment -

Anybody know the answer for sure here?
The teams consider it a playoff, they consider a deciding final season game or set of games a playoff, that's why they celebrate.
But what about the books?
What do they do?Comment -

#29I wanna say we have had multiple teams win the 1 game play in then go on to the WS havnt we? Hardly irrelevant, baseball all bout getting hot at the end, other than those 2 teams having to burn their best starter before next series they have every bit as good a chance to make a run as the division winners, the guy who gets picked last in draft can’t say he has as good a shot as guys going in 1st round.Originally posted by RudyRuetiggerit is like the last pick in the draft
