At 42 he now has to compete with guys built in his image. Bigger, stronger, younger and in shape. With a balanced game. Kinda ironic. Any given weekend one of these guys can show up and dominate. He has to be almost perfect for a weekend to get a win these days. But its good to see a legend can still compete at his age. Any other sport unless you're Tom Brady, you're washed up.

Yeah, like I said, with the exception of putting Tiger has been one of the most solid pro golfers for several weeks.

He's playing well and can hang with these "kids" without having to cream the ball so hard you hurt yourself.

Stamina and over compensating. He is going for the long drives trying to be the old tiger instead of substituting a few feet for accuracy. And he was huffing and puffing for 15 minutes after the 18th. Sweating like Patrick Ewing in the 4th quarter. Did you see Brooks at the end of that round? completely different picture.

You could also argue tiger lost this tourney in his first 2 holes thursday he was +3, a couple of pars there and he prob wins. Either way golf needs tiger, he is the only one that moves the needle in that sport. Fun fact yesterday's pga was watched 69% more per household than last year's pgs championship. 69%!

That's quite a big if. But if you grant Adam Scott or Justin Thomas "ifs" that big, they have a valid case for a win too.

Tiger absolutely played well enough to win, he impressed the hell out of me. And one thing that's different now than before was some golfer, named Koepka, who picked up his game and nailed birdies in the face of Tiger lighting up the back nine. And I think BK is probably only one of maybe half dozen capable of doing that. JT, DJ, Day, Speith come to mind, maybe Rahm, maybe Rose? (Not Rory. Gave up on that guy ... not Fowler, either. He don't play to that level.)

Fact is, the competition is ferocious today - much better than the chumps who'd fold like blankets for Tiger 10-20 years ago. Tiger's effort yesterday would have won him a major with strokes to spare back then.

If I look back at what Tiger could have done better - - - he started the damn tournament +3 after two holes! WTF! That had to have been nerves - and he's had a recent history of poor starts before grinding up the leaderboard. I'd say that's more important to work on than his driving, he will find the fairways again. If he can top the leaderboard after 2 days of golf, he'll win again - closing the deal is old hat to him.

Good post! One of the biggest factors the average golf fan is missing in tiger's play the last month is look at how different the British open course set up was to the pga championship course. Basically polar opposites and tiger was right there in both styles, I would say that bodes very well him going into next year if u look at the major venues
