You should sell your Bitcoin on your exchange & keep it in USD. If you have that option, Bitcoin is costing you a lot of money HODL.

Regardless if he holds it in USD at the exchange, they're likely going to forward his info to IRS etc. once he converts from BTC to USD. From an earlier post, he wants to avoid that.

I dont think its costing me money holding the BTC, I started getting the bulk of payouts when BTC was around 6k I believe. Its at 7 now. Long term i think BTC is only going up.
