It's just to make a point about just how brutal the NBA can be. Hack a Shaq was the very definition of contact sport.

Shaw said he used get slammed and beat up and hit hard. If you're a driving point guard, watch out. It's not an NFL running back, but in some situations and games, it's pretty rough.
