I'm not a poker guy (although I have enjoyed the recent drama in the poker forum) but anytime I see an international competition with the USA involved I tend to get interested. I have a question though-- the USA and Canada titles are self-explanatory, and I assume the World team are non-US and Canadian players. Which countries are the Confederates from? Or are they from the US Southern states? Whatever the answer is--I'm going for US in this competition. Make us non poker playing Americans proud, fellas.

Top 12 from America represent Team USA and the next 12 represent Team Confederates.

yes, it's not by geographic region, though that would be interesting for future cups.... no way that scamming yankee cheater waves could play for the south....

make confeds the top players from the traditional southern states, have the union (original northern states), and the third usa team be "The Western States", to include all western states either not involved in the civil war or even in existence at the time of it....

throw canada in with the world due to only having ten legit players, maybe 11....

personally, I like the draft idea of the top 4 pts getters in the promo being captains, drafting the next 40 players, then 4 wild cards chosen at their discretion....

I do not like the draft idea. It would mean that captains could arbitrarily choose players based on who they liked rather than their point totals, and that would be unfair to players that had accumulated a high score by playing every day.

Don't really see why that matters. If you accumulated a high score, you will still get into the Finals which is the most important thing. Unless you are implying that the issue is that you might wind up with teammates you don't like based on the captain's choices? That is possible, but again don't really see how that's different than current format - after all last year, Auto Donk and Bobbywaves wound up on same team!

I like the draft idea - just don't agree with the Wildcard picks though. That definitely is something where favoritism would come into play and such, not to mention they might pick someone who didn't even try to qualify etc. Should just be the Top 48 people by points then Top 4 are captains, and they pick team members one by one.

top 4 are captains... the next 40 promo point totals, 5th - 44, HAVE TO BE DRAFTED... (in other words, the top 44 pts totals are in the promo, and HAVE TO be either the captains or BE DRAFTED)... THE LAST 4 PICKS, one team each, can be from the remaining finishers who were not in the top 44.....

waves would obviously be the 40th pick, assuming he didn't cheat/get banned again and made it into the top 44.....
