I find that hard to sell to a fan base in the middle of a playoff run. How do you trade your top player away in this situation and get away with it?

It's an easy sell.
They've never won with him, and there's a good chance he's going to leave at the end of the season anyway. Might as well get something for him.

Well it looked to me like the fan base still loves him by watching the All Star weekend. Not sure it would be as easy as you make it out to be, unless they get a team to send them a ton for him.

Who cares what the fanbase wants. Maybe the organization has already gotten word that he has no intention of re-signing. If that's true, they would be stupid not to see what they could get for him.

Judge is an excellent defender and so is Bryce. Cant have all 3 though need a speedy center fielder.

Getting Harper for Kershaw might not be a bad deal for LA; Kershaw is almost 30 and has had recurring back problems.

I used to love love Bryce Harper! He was absolutely my favorite player when he came up and I’ll never forget his opening night, his first game, I was hanging in the 50% deserted Lake Las Vegas, I had Stras and the Nats that game and they gave up 2 in the 9th and then lost in Extra Innings. Was a brutal losss!!! I was depressed with like 20 people at a small Irish pub.
i remember when he would run out singles and try to make doubles, now he jogs on possible double plays.
so disgusted with him. I still love to watch him hit the long ball, but he hasn’t made an adjustment.
Nats would be smart to get ride of him.

I think it one of those deals where yes but you can go over it long as you pay a tax. I think that how it is now.
