      I don't think it's a competition taken very seriously

Kind of like the NIT tournament

It's kind of like 3 on 3 basketball.

But a bit more serious. Especially for smaller rugby nations like Fiji.

The annual Hong Kong Sevens tourney is like a party festival for chardonnay sipping rugby folk.

Fan here otters. Played rugby at university of florida. 7s is different game then the “natural” rugby I played but always love watching the games. The speed and technique used at this level is ridiculously impressive.

hey. Newguy whats up man. I am loving this rugby. You must have been a beast to play rugby at florida. Is natural rugby called union?

I could see how people could get addicted to betting on this rugby 7s is they offered lines. Short quick games with lots of twists and turns. Love this New zealand team

I always just called it rugby. It’s 15 v 15 instead of the 7s. I played either prop or second line so neither position translates well into 7s. We were a club team meaning it wasn’t a varsity sport but we played other schools. We were good one year. 7th in nation but lost to cal who was always good. It was fun but a shit ton of running. 2 hour practices and first hour was pure cardio. For a fat boy like me that’s painful but it was a good time. These 7s are sadly way more fun to watch. Much quicker than regular rugby. It was still a newer thing back when I was playing but could definitely see how this is more fun to watch and play!!!

Every time I watch any type of rugby I'm always amazed there aren't more injuries

Except womens' rugby. I caught a glimpse of some of that in this tourney. Some sports like tennis don't lose much in translation from males to females but that womens' rugby looked pretty bad.

There is Rugby Union and Rugby League.

Sevens is a shorten form of Rugby Union.
