It’s a weird trade, but most likely you either convince Leonard to stay (not likely) or realize the DeRozan combo wasn’t going further then ceiling it reached and you get out of his deal, and rebuild.

That's it, Leonard has boxed himself into a corner. If he wants to play in LA and doesn't want to play with Lebron, why would the Clips need to offer top dollar? If he doesn't play close to his old level or does the wounded diva act this season, would they risk big money or a long term deal?

I'd have to say 60. You figure he's going to get a dozen rest days, mostly on back to backs. Can he go a whole season without getting baanged up after stting out most of 2017/18? If he does get nicked up, do you think he's gonna hurry back or sit till he feels like he's good?

I wonder how much Uncle Dennis's advise is going to cost Kawhi in the long run? No supermax offer and now there's a risk that if he can't perform this year, his next offer is going to be even less than expected. I wouldn't expect too many companies rushing to sign Kawhi to endorsement deals this year and sitting out last season surely cost him some opportunities. He'll be losing a little more money this season due to taxes moving from Texas to Canada.

He doesn't care about endorsements. If he did, he would have cashed in after winning finals mvp. He wants to play ball and live a low key life.

Trade works for both teams. Spurs get a very good player in DeRozan who should improve under Pop. Toronto gets a top 5 player to make a finals push. If Leonard doesn't like Toronto they can do a sign and trade next offseason and get some assets back. Either way, the Raptors roster prior to this deal was not good enough to win a title. Getting DeRozan's deal off the books was a win for them as well.

WOjo has reported that Kawhi is warming up to the idea of playing in Toronto.....and that he is healthy, passed physical and will be reporting for the start of camp. He has a press conference scheduled for Friday.
