Lots of caves in South East Asia. Normal there to explore caves. This particular one declared safe to enter...until now...they just caught off guard with the heavy rain.

I have been there twice in the last year. I live a few hours from here. I took my brother there when he came to visit. The place is amazing! Vietnam has the most beautiful caves in the world!

I can understand exploring a cave but once you get to a point where it’s a real tight squeeze to fit thru a crevice...that’s it. Turn around and head back out. Sounds like if it kept raining all the people trapped would drown.

I don’t really feel much compassion for them. Just a bunch of dumbasses. This isn’t like a situation where miners are trapped and eventually suffocate. This could have been completely avoided and it already cost the life of someone trying to help them.

Suba diving in zero vis is unsettling enough when you know what you're doing. These kids are having their first dive in the dark, 0 vis and confined spaces and on top of that can't swim apparently, it's a remarkable story.
