Horse racing seems to be a generational thing......the 20's and 30's crowd doesn't seem to have any interest.
I know many casinos in Vegas are doing everything they can to increase interest, by offering seminars, free plays, etc.

Too much collusion and race-fixing. You have to be an insider to really make money at the track.

Collusion and race fixing at smaller tracks maybe not at the big tracks (as much if at all).

Problem is horses are dumb animals and are ridden by dumb jockeys, so many factors and so many possibilities (doping etc) in a race make it impossible to win long term.
