Sure it has some nice expensive restaurants but Toronto is below average as far as food for a big city. Doesn't really have an identity either

You have NY cheesecake, Chicago style pizza, New Orleans po boys, Seattle seafood, and then you have Toronto blob smothered in cheese

stayed in montreal restaurants are hard because most are in French chicks are cute. Becareful of some chicks at bars since its 18+ you get a lot of 15 year girls that go so watchout there. Gas is petroleum there not gas and Canadian dollars are 1.40/1 so that's good at least. Yeah if you don't speak French you aint getting a lot of chicks. Becareful at border patrol they could be real pricks when your trying to cross the border

Montreal is very friendly and models after the European culture. You'll run into some stubborn French residents who will snub you if you don't speak french but whatever.

I lived in Toronto for 5 years and blah. Good to visit, not my cup of tea to live there. 24/7 traffic, everywhere. A little too diverse for my liking. Lots to do and see at all hours of the day downtown. Jays games, Ripley's Aquarium right beside the CN Tower and Rogers Centre. Bunch of museum's and stuff if you're into that.
                  Nice write up.

One small thing it’s not Ste Catherine’s
                  it’s Ste Catherine street.

never add the s. Sounds funny if you’re
                  from Montreal.

i know both cities well, toronto really well.....

visiting toronto is a bit like visiting alot of northern USA cities. i'd say a less grand chicago would be a good description. not that much major to do but pretty lively and lots of little secondary things you can do (eaton center shopping center, toronto island, royal ontario museum, university of toronto and its annex neighbourhood on bloor, blue jays).... restaurants that are pretty enjoyable are movenpick marche (high end cafeteria. very cool concept), the keg downtown (people from USA love the keg).......... i'm not that big a fan of toronto and i don't think it's that great. but drake has done alot to make it "cool" and NBA players love visiting it.

montreal is very exciting.. not that much to do but great ambiance. you can eat almost anywhere and the meal will be good (even old greasy spoons). french-canadian women are so stylish.. as per things to do, there's a big, cool lookup point above mcgill university (nice to walk around on its own), old montreal, downtownish casino)....... anyway, I LOVE MONTREAL. just the vibe and walking around.

you didn't ask but Quebec City is sensational. like being in an old european town. it really is like being in europe. montreal while great doesn't have that vibe.

as mentioned by another, st laurent boulevard in montreal is great. fantastic restaurant and bar scene.

this is years ago but private stripper dances were still $5 in montreal when they were $20 in toronto.. admittedly they went from $5 to $20 in toronto really fast.

didn't know that they put in an aquarium at cn tower.. someone i know raised a bunch of money to do it at eaton center but it obviously didn't happen there

crescent street in montreal is sensational. a whole bunch of bars, some of them legitimately still stuck in 1978 (that's intentional)... i think more fun there than any other party district i've been to in the world. it is amazing.

not an expert on toronto food but i don't think it's particularly impressive for a city of its size. all cities of a certain size have good restaurants now.... anyway, maybe it's just me but i'd want to go to places fun, unique and memorable on my vacation, not so much high end gourmet dining but that's just me.

as i said, people from USA love the keg (and earl's and cactus club... moxie's too), all of them right downtown in toronto ....... it's a bit bizarre to me that these lounge style restaurant chains don't seem to have been copied in the USA

Toronto is friendly and very diverse, Montreal is in Quebec which is the most hate-filled racist part of Canada.

                              Toronto > Montreal.
I’m as English as they come born and
raised in Montreal with the exception
of 20 years in NJ,conn, and NY.

                              Had many battles with Frenchmen
                              growing up.

So we do have something in common
the both of us being English.

                              That said...

You sound like a real ignorant Torontonian.

First off Montreal is not anti English.

Second Montreal does not not like Americans.

Montreal is extremely diverse maybe to much so.

The Stupid fucck Frenchman that you speak
of are from rural areas for the most part
                              like sourhern hillbillies

This next part is very important.

The Frenchman that hate English do not
differentiate between what type of english
person you are they hate me as much
as an American.. actually they hate me more
brcause I’m living in their province.

they are a small minority now and
anyone coming to Montreal will have
no language problems here besides not
being able to read a sign.

You got what many other Torontonians
have a disdain for Montreal based solely
on decades and decades of hockey domination
                              combined with ignorance.

Ironic you open up your post telling
a poster he has no idea what he’s talking about.

The Frenchman that hate English do not
differentiate between what type of english
person you are they hate me as much
as an American.. actually they hate me more
brcause I’m living in their province.

they are a small minority now and
anyone coming to Montreal will have
no language problems here besides not
being able to read a sign.

You got what many other Torontonians
have a disdain for Montreal based solely
on decades and decades of hockey domination
                                        combined with ignorance.

Ironic you open up your post telling
a poster he has no idea what he’s talking about.
Mtl could be not so anti-English due to diverse communities (Arabs, Chin/Philli, Haitians.etc). In general, Quebec folks are anti-English.

First off Montreal is not anti English.

Second Montreal does not not like Americans.

Montreal is extremely diverse maybe to much so.

What hockey domination ?? The Habs are an utter joke of a franchise that are riding the coat tails of a win over 25 years ago.

Only reason the Habs have more cups than the Leafs is because the Leafs went to fight in the war during the 40s and the Habs stayed home.

Now on the matter of the anti-english thing.

I have asked POLICE OFFICERS for directions in Montreal and was asked "Do you not speak french ??" and also told "Maybe you should try..."

Toronto and Montreal not great for food or sites really. Montreal not bad though for site seeing.
Toronto is one of the best places in the world for food if you are into diversity. You can find cuisines from pretty much every country in the world. It is by far the best city for food when it comes to diversity.

If you are into site seeing get the city pass from Costco; i think its something like 69.99CAD. I got it when i was there. It includes cn tower, rom, ripleys acquarium, casaloma, science center and the zoo. If you pay individually, just the cn tower and ripleys alone would cost over 70 bucks.

For food you can find whatever you want. Don't eat what you normall eat in your city. Be adventurous and try different cuisines.

i don't think it's that racist. of course, i didn't really understand it. which leads to my second point

........ but i also don't think Trudeau is an Obama clone. Obama has far more substance and thinks before he acts. Trudeau makes so many off-the-cuff poorly thought out statements/actions and then has to back-track really badly afterwards. don't remember that happening to obama that much. yes, obamacare had problems but if it was trudeau the after-effect would have been much much worse.

one big backtrack is trudeau distancing himself from trump's immigration policy and i paraphrase, "come to canada, we celebrate multi-culturalism, we will take you in"... and then his customs/immigration department had to come out and say "that's not really the case" when canada got swamped by immigrants/refugees/etc.

Needless to say I wouldn't be to thrilled to see mosques popping up everywhere, women covered up from head to toe, and the real threat of a terrorist attack looming in my neighborhood from the brotherhood of extreme Islam..
