Ridiculous to give that "foul" a yellow or red. VAR is forcing everyone to over analyze every stupid little play. The defender was blocking Ronaldo's path when the ball wasn't anywhere near them (which in itself is a foul), but all anyone could see was Ronaldo grazing the defender's cheek with his arm...in any other tournament that is not a foul.

By giving a yellow the ref acknowledges he hit the defender. Only penalty for that is a red card. Bad points for the ref. Foul = red. No foul = nothing. He actually only had 2 options: give nothing or give a red. He chickened out and will probably get bad marks from FIFA for that as there is absolutely no rule where the penalty for hitting a player is a yellow.

I do not think that was a foul. Penalty against Iran was not even penalty at all. If that was the case, it should have given free kick on the edge of the box.
