This will always be a cult sport in America. The best games are on when the country is working mostly. WC games are dull by comparison to champions league matches, but they shove it down people's throats. At least every game is on in America while here in Colombia we only get some of them lmao. The big leagues the champion is usually sure by march then they play another 2 months. Even if MLS had the best players, it would be to squeeze in somewhere during the year.

I agree. As slimy a tactic as it seems to be on the surface, it's actually a very integral part of the game. Especially with no timeouts in soccer. These guys are in some of the most phenomenal shape in all of sports, but even athletes of their caliber find it difficult to run full speed around the pitch for essentially 45 minutes straight.

Plus, yes...fooling the official into issuing a red card due to a flopped injury is no different than what I did as a punter in high school. I'd fake like I got rocked after getting the kick away, and it was usually good for a 15 yard penalty and a first down at least once a game. Until they caught on, that is. It's all about winning at all costs

Let me just add, lets say I'm Messi and I'm running into the box, dribbling my way into the PK area and then suddenly I get fouled. But lets say the ref doesnt quite see the foul, should I not be allowed to embellish the foul by diving a bit???!! Just to get the referee's attention???

World Cup group stages are typically garbage. It is a huge reason why the sport gets such a bad reputation. The setup of the group stages encourages parking the bus for the shit teams, and holding posession to defend 1 goal leads, even for the best teams. There is diving, time wasting, and just boring play. Sadly this is when most of the world tunes in to watch the sport, so this is the example they get.
