There's a place called Molly McBlooms on El Camino Real (kind of the main drag in San Clemente) about a half block from Avenida Mendocino. Good grub and good drinks and a fun vibe. Good place to go with your date. I can't promise this will happen, but a few years ago I was there and they have a little dance floor for people so inclined. I kid you not--there was a woman with one leg out there dancing. Crazy.
By the way, I don't live in San Clemente but it is my beach of choice when I go. I live in Riverside, which is a bit inland and hot as hell in the summer. Enjoy San Clemente and SoCal in general.
