Let me just start by saying I am strictly a totals/sides guy 99.9% of the time. That being said, several factors have forced me to eat the extra five cents of juice books always add to an exotic like this:
Two gas can starting pitchers, the home starter with a WHIP of 1.50, Nova's being north of 1.30. Mediocre bullpens that will continue to have to work 4-5 more innings today before skipping town for their respective weekend series. Band box of a ball park. All factors that will put runners on early and often, and inevitably some of those will cross home plate.
With that being said, why am I not just loading up on the over like I normally would? Well, both offenses are in the bottom 5 in stranding runners in scoring position. So while both sides may total 9-12 hits apiece, we may end up with a 4-3 or 5-3 type of ballgame.
The difference maker in these wagers, however, could be the much rarer error. Both defenses are averaging over half an error per game. A wayward throw may make the difference in this one.
Medium-large sized wager here for me. But tread lightly. All I can do is look at favorable angles. Keep in mind, both teams are very capable of penetrating up a wet dream.
