He has pitched about 110 innings with houston at a 1.06era...ummm...something doesn't add up. Last year his era with detroit was over 3.50..now he has equivelant to 15 starts at 7 innings each at an era not seen in 60 years...and at his age. Not buying it...not sure but this is unheard of.

#3It is strange, not saying this is 100% the reason for the improvement, but I know the Astros organization uses a ton of analytics in breaking down their pitches. They video (from many angles) their motion/delivery and try and make all kind of improvements. I remember hearing an interview where Verlander said he was amazed at how the organization approached pitching. Stuff that he never even thought of during his time in Det (which may all be PED’s for all we know).
Other examples of a vast improvements are Gerrit Cole and Charlie Morton. Look at their numbers before and after going to Houston.
Either the Astros are the best organization for coaching pitching in many years....or they are up to something fishy. It’s not just VerlanderComment -

#12The last few years have been depressing in Detroit. He got his stuff back after the core injury, including a bit of his velocity. The dude is a winner, and got a second life. Still arguably the best pitcher in the game.Comment -

#23Truth is, sometimes middle aged men get a rejuvenation with a change in their life.
Could be just as simple as getting out of Detroit.

#25So he has had a change in his life and is on pace to finish year with an era not seen in 70 years. This is like a hitter batting 430 for the year....or hockey player scoring 89 goals in 2019...his numbers are tons better then others..tons !!!!!Comment -

1) Pitcher ERA varies a good bit from year to year.
2) I do think he was dogging it some at the end of his Detroit stay.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -
