So, why is online gambling still illegal?
So they legalized sports betting. So why is online betting still illegal. Pinnacle and other big guys are still refusing americans, how come?

It hasn't been legalized. The Supreme Court basically ruled that the Feds cannot order the states to ban sports betting without setting up their own regulatory scheme. PASPA forced the states to put their own bans on the books rather than setting up their own regulations (basically made the states do the dirty work instead of doing it themselves), but since SCOTUS ruled they can't force the states to do it, the states are free to repeal them and put in their own sports betting laws. However, until the states change those laws, it's still banned in that state.Comment -

Indeed. I think it's far more dangerous to have these things illegal. The best way to put drug dealers, pimps, shady bookies etc out of business is to compete with them. Arresting people 1 at a time does nothing to solve the problem. The "problem" will always be there. Just like there will always be obese people there will always be people that use drugs and people that gamble. Legalize it all and then focus on educating people so they will make better choices. I'm always curious as to what these lawmakers biggest fear is? Unfortunately I think many of these lawmakers know absolutely nothing about many of the things that they want to keep illegal... and that's why they want to keep it illegal... because they know nothing about it. It's still technically illegal in most of the states. All SCOTUS did was tell the feds they couldn't force the state to enact bans in their state legislatures. The states get to decide now whether to repeal those bans or keep them, but they now have a choice where they didn't before PASPA.Originally posted by danwinklerComment -
