Can someone explain to me why great players like Ivey and Helmouth, etc seem to wane as they hit their 30s/40s
There is no athletic skill involved in poker yet it seems the best fade away on their 30s

it is a game of chance, once poker got popular everyone played and their careers sank
Poker Pros only good in small fields with mainly good players

Most don't wane, it's just when you reach a certain level + age you don't want to sit around tournaments for three to four days to win nothing. It's much easier to play cash games with new money and millionaires that want to take their shot at the best.

Hellmuth I can not speak on but Ivey has been laying low since all his legal issues....Hellmuth still holds the largest ROI of any tournament player by double digits. He plays the WSOP slate and not much else. Negranue still true to form playing all the super high roller tournaments. Gus hanson had been playing chinese poker and short deck. Not many nose bleed game players left in the US. Everyone in Macau or the UK. Hanson streamed a nose bleed PLO game a few weeks ago from Kings casino with a stripper rubbing his nuts and 4 million on the table.

i dont think ivey declined much. he just doesnt have the drive to play tournaments anymore. hes already famous and considered the best so why would he play tourneys when he can make more playing cash games? also newer players keep getting better every year (especially now with how much easier it is to improve with the info on the internet) while middle age ppl tend to stay the same.

Ivy lost most of his money gambling and bad investments
He owes out at least 25 million to various entities
Most Poker players busted and the endorsement stuff dried up to small time money because not enough skin in the game anymore

he edge sorted. he never touched the cards himself and they agreed to all his requests. ridiculous that they call it cheating.

You don't just lose physical ability when you get older, you also lose mental acuity.

They all go to Macau and make millions of the fat cat Chinese guys. They don't even care if they lose, it's the thrill of going head to head with the great American players.
You got to be properly rolled or have a backer though. Getting sucked out on for a multi millionaire dollar pot very few people can handle.

Played with Brandon Cantu and Tiffany Michelle from Ultimate Bet's team in Panama, back in 2010.
Locally I have played vs Max Stern, Humberto Brenes and Alex Brenes all from Costa Rica, all multiple WSOP bracelet winners.
Steven Thompson introduced me to pokerstars back in 2007, he cashed a 2nd place on NLHE 6max at WSOP 2016 for $300k+
He backed me for a while mostly live... I consider him my mentor.

Busted Brandon late on day 1 for that tourney, he seemed tilt... I raised 3x UTG with KK, he came over the top all in with AK, luckily no ace and he went off fuming a bit.
Tifanny Michelle is a weird looking chick, short and too skinny, didn't think she was hot.
I got eliminated late day 2 on the bubble... heartbreaking... 1st place was like 60K... would have been nice

Wikipedia says she's 5'7 which is tall for a chick
She may have written her own page though

Played .50/1.00 the other day on WSOP.com with Andrew Neeme....not sure if he counts but well known in the poker community.
Doug Polk was streaming on WSOP @ .25/.50 table but the wait list was a mile long.

Used to play with luckychewy in private local games..he was tight as fkk. If he was in a hand, i was most likely out. I am usually the loosest at the table. He had an indian friend who played also, whitelime i think was his ftp name. These games were 2/5.
