I think he only lost 2 matches in his last 50 matches on clay court surface that a crazy stat, is the competition weak or he just has good as before when he was in his prime of his tennis career.

His movement and grace when he glides on that surface is so facinating and puzzles me how someone can do it day in and day out.

Nadal's track record on clay is amazing. The tennis announcers used to think that he would NEVER lose at Roland Garros. Eventually, he did lose a few.
I'd argue that the time to get him at +Value was very early in his career. Early on, Nadal was once a dog in the French Open vs Federer (like +130). Nadal won, of course. Looking back, hard to believe he was ever dog price on Clay.Where's the fuckin power box, Carol?Comment -
Nadal is just too good on clay. Then they're good pretenders like Thiem e.t.c, even when Nadal was struggling you knew he'd slay on clay. His movement reminds me of prime Djoko on hard surfaces; way he'd slide & get back everything you threw at him. It's a pity guys like Murray, Stan & Djoker are out/struggling. That's basically the whole competition! Current gen of Kei, Raonic, Kygrios & Dimitrov just can't compete in every event.Comment -

Not really. Did you watch it? Thiem played almost perfect tennis. That happens sometimes in tennis. Sometimes one guy ate their wheaties and one guy didn't. Nadal definitely wanted to win in Madrid. He just got beat today. Nothing sketchy. Thiem is a very good player when's dialed in. He is expected to dominate clay court if Nadal ever retires.Comment -
Agree. Thiem was totally in the zone. If a top 10 player is in the zone, perfect day form on his best surface this can be happening sometimes in a best of three, even vs. Nadal on clay.
Funny fact. Last two matches Nadal played vs. Schwartzman, Nadal lost the next match (the other one Australian Open 2018). I believe Schwartzman also have to do a bit with the lose from Nadal vs. Thiem. 2017 in Montecarlo, he faced Schwartzman also and than played vs. Goffin, Goffin would had won this match/first set, but there was the sick umpire mistake. Than this would be three loses in a row in the next match after faced Schwartzman
