Warriors need to stretch series out to give Curry rest. They don't wanna start the next series with no Curry.

Im not an avid follower of NBA but I'd assume conference semi finals start on a set date to assume all series go to game 7. So them sweeping Spurs vs a long series would mean equal rest for Curry (yeh I know if it got to game 7 there might be a chance they go panic mode an use Curry).

If Warriors sweep the next series will start a little early because Pelicans (next opponent) swept their opponent.
