Padres played the Astros tough all series but that bonehead play to end Satruday's game was straight out of Little League. Padres have a nice young core but they have to start playing fundamentally sound baseball.

we usually bury ourselves early and then start playing decent ball after the all star break.

we were not supposed to contend this year anyhow, but did not expect to lay a complete egg either.

Like you, I live in San Diego so I go to a lot of games and watch them in the evening. The Padres just seem to not be able to focus for 9 innings.

Teams at the top now are not as good as they seem and teams at the bottom not as bad as they seem. That said, the Padres are not a good team.

Joey Lucchesi has been impressive thus far. He's the first of our young starters to get to the big leagues and looks like he will be pretty good.
