#7I bet every NFL player has a trace of CTE. At this point, having 2 concussions myself, makes me think that I have it too. It makes a person paranoid and the only way to discover it is DEATH. Poor Mark Rypien....that really sucks. How about Dwight Clark? Look what happened to him. Even all of Eddie DeBartolo's money can't save him. CTE to NFL is like PED's are for the MLB record book but 1,000,000 times worse.Comment -

#8Signs and symptoms
Symptoms of CTE, which occur in four stages, generally appear 8 to 10 years after an athlete experiences repetitive mild traumatic brain injury.
First-stage symptoms include attention deficit hyperactivity disorder as well as confusion, disorientation, dizziness, and headaches.
Second-stage symptoms include memory loss, social instability, impulsive behavior, and poor judgment.
Third and fourth stages include progressive dementia, movement disorders, hypomimia, speech impediments, sensory processing disorder, tremors, vertigo, deafness, depression and suicidality
Chronic traumatic encephalopathy - Wikipedia
This shit is no joke.............
I might have CTE...............
I have all the symptoms of first stage and half of second stage...........
I have been knocked out 4 times in my life as for the first time,
I was completely unconscious for 45 minutes.............Comment -

#16He lost his 3 year old son to brain cancer back in 98.
He was on a sports radio station about a year ago. Said it haunts him every single day and he struggles moving on in life because the pain is unbearable.

#18In a way... this subject will never die.
But, in my opinion.... there's a risk for injury in every sport.
And regardless if a player feels like he didn't get paid well... (to cover extra costs for medical treatment) etc....
They will always blame the NFL for it.
Why don't they take the blame for taking the job???
You must of thought the money was good at the time... otherwise you wouldn't of signed the contract.
Not trying to sound like a heartless prick... but there's risk to everything in life.

#19I have no respect for these NFL douchebags that are just wanting a payday from the NFL because their lives are trash after they retire from the game. It ain't due to concussions that you're a loser. Millions of people have played the game, and are fine. The snowflakes that want to blame something else for their own problems (drugs, loose women, etc etc)...nah dude. It's on you.
And lmao at this part of the article..
Rypien also said his daughter suffered concussions while playing in the Lingerie Football League.Comment -

#24It definitely won't as it brings in so much revenue and is the #1 sport in the USA. Guys will take their chances because everyone who was tested, was discovered with CTE. I wish there was a way to put some type of protection (gel or anything) in the helmet to where the force of the blow would lessen. Too bad technology can't show CTE while the person is alive so they know to retire ASAP ( the degree of CTE).Comment -
