I LOVE my team. Lifelong fan. I called a wild card after the end of the season (probably 8-8, MAYBE 10-6 with a weak schedule) but we aren't winning the big game next year. 2-3 years with the right moves (so far so great with Lynch/Shanny) then yes it's a real possibility.

I think it'll be more of the same with Pats/Jags/Philly/Rams/Steelers/Minny

Maybe/Longshots :

Houston? (Watson looked amazing before injury)
Greenbay? (no D though so I doubt it)
Denver ? (D is old and tired, no QB so long shot)
Cowboys (only with best record and homefield possibly but unlikely)

As a Niner fan I am tickled to death that we got Jimmy G from the Pats. I think the kid has what it takes to turn the franchise around and more importantly the Niners do too as they paid that man his money after he won all his starts down the stretch. The Super Bowl is a bit ambitious but I can see them being a playoff contender all year now that they have a QB.

I'm with you groove... I have read now several threads bashing or doubting the 49ers and I'm buying. They got the QB they have needed, and they got a really good one. The core of their team is strong (OL DL). 8th on that list at first seems surprising, but once I think about it compared to the other teams that is where they should be.

Jimmy took a 1-10 SF team to 5 straight wins (including wins over Jags, Titans) and is 7-0 as a starter. Small sample size, but SF was solidifying late season; this was with Trent Taylor and Goodwin as the leading WRs..

Pair that with the fact they get a solid draft pick this year and some possible FAs...
