#39This day was coming.
If you wager on it... it's very exciting.
For the avg fan.... what more could you ask for?
Video technology is off the charts.... camera views are amazing on TV. It's kind of scary that the technology is at it's peak... and the ratings are down. BIG TROUBLE NOW.Comment -

#44That's funny
Kids can't relate to the skill required anymore because no one makes manual transmission cars.
As a sporting driver myself (74 Triumph TR6, 59 Austin Healy 100 and 2006 Aston Martin Vantage) I appreciate the skill of driving w gears, speed and the sport of it.
Today's youth is diverless cars, yesterday's youth is all auto transmission and the idea of prohibition is ancient history to a fan base that is still the most loyal per brand placement of any sport.
Need to re educate their audience, but car manufacturers aren't doing themselves any favors here.Comment -

#45First time I ever watched it and only because of the SBR contest and interest shown on this website.. I was bored and home as well.. The crashes were spicey, gets competitive at times.. Cars bump and get squirrely too...
I actually enjoyed it but tuned in and out.. Too long, too many laps... Impossible to bet on, crashes make it dicey as hell.. Dart throwing for sure..

#49People don't wanna tune in to watch a bunch of cards go round and round. Wow Im shocked. The only type of racing I would actually watch would be like real life video game style racing. You know with an actual track instead of something that just goes in circles.Comment -

You may not grow to love it and want to watch enitre races. But if you stick for a few races I guarantee you change your mind about lack of betting opportunities. If you like betting golf or tennis, multi day events, NASCAR is like that on steroids. Not like the instant thrill of horse racing or daily cycle like baseball, but some of us like the longer time frame chess game betting style..Comment -

#53Not sure what difference it makes to us how many people watch it as bettors.
Books have been steadily improving coverage of it each year..Comment -

#54Daytona a shitty example to judge it on really. Its so different with the cars all limited to similar top speed.

#58I don't see how anyone can consistently win betting Nascar?.. Cars break down, driver errors can happen or you can just be at the wrong place at the wrong time on the track when some crashes in front of you..
Too many intangibles and bad things can happen.. I'll never bet it ever...
I'd rather bet on real athletes I know that run up and down the courts or playing fields and score points and defend instead.. Can get a better grip on that..

#60just like any other sports it has its challenges
it does take a ton of work to understand all the aspects of betting on NASCAR, but its well worth it if ur dedicated and know what to bet and when to bet themComment -

#67I see a waning viewership/interest in major sports among children and young adults at family functions. (I don't confuse NASCAR with sport but for the sake of argument I will include all sports.)
The viewing activity that I observe among the X,Y or Z Gens has little to do with broadcast or cable channels. The upcoming viewers switch the Smart TV's from broadcast/cable channels to participate in video games, watch You Tube or Netflix.
I don't observe any interest nor the attention span to view a partial or full sporting event.Comment -

#70I'm personally not into racing, but I know some people love it. I have an old roommate that races modfied's around here. He'll never be NASCAR, but he's damn good. He loves it, it's just in his blood.
One tidbit: don't try to listen to racing on the radio. All you hear is "vroom, vroom"Comment
