Why can't they just have east vs west?

Yep it's sad. 80's and 90's NBA was freaking awesome.

IT is still the very best basketball to watch still to this day... but all of the appointments around the game is trash. The marketeers seem to be telling middle America that they do not want our money.

Worst rule ever all in effort to make the MLB AS game relevant. STUPID it's a freaking exhibition game!!!!

I stopped watching the NBA "All Star" game years ago, and stopped watching NBA all together about 2 years ago

I don't mind watching them play for fun and set-up cool and unique passes and plays. I don't want to see them chuck up 150 Three-balls competing to see who can make the farthest one.

Not 100% sure, but I think they started doing it because one year the game ended in a tie due to the fact that they ran out of pitchers, so they made that rule to put pressure on the teams to make sure there was a winner. I don't think they do it anymore.

It was a success because James' team came back from 15 down at the end. If team Steph put their foot down this would have been one of the worst ever. Props to Harden & Steph for letting them back in, it makes sense for everyone ..kerching! $$$$$

kind of unrelated and i know its been said b4 but ive watched some of the interviews this past week or so these guys collectively might be the dumbest group of pro athletes ever

actually heard one say "people have no idea what we go through, we have to travel from hot to cold climates"

I for one dont watch anymore, period. Just dont get why they would take the west vs east outta the equation. Whats next team diddy vs team kanye? Watched the dunk contest on taped delay. Besides Nance dressing up and doing his dads dunk that was wack too.

There are certainly reasons to dislike the NBA, but eschewing the East/West All-Star format isn't one of them.
