Almost all of today's dunkers are light years ahead. It's just not new anymore so it's not exciting. Most ideas have been done. Go look at the years Kobe won, and what they deemed exciting then because it was still new. Athletes evolve just like everything else and get better over time.

ESPN shows highlights of dunk after dunk every night of the season.

We get it--they jump up and slam the ball through the hoop. At the all-star game they do a spin and slam the ball through the hoop.

The entertainment value ain't what it used to be.

A couple years ago, some dude ran along the baseline, jumped from one side to the other, below back board and slammed it down.
Had to duck his head on the way by, then re-extend.
First time ever I was totally shocked by what a human could do. Matrix shit.

With the exception of the final, the 3 point shoot out was a bag O` bricks.

Anyone doing dunks from the free throw line or further away? Maybe they should tape some lines down behind the free throw line, going back every 6 inches or so.

Make it like a long jump style track event; who can dunk from farthest out.

The thing I remember most about the dunk contest in recent years is Aaron Gordon getting totally robbed in 2016.
