With 140-150 people playing every day, don't see how in the long-term this could be possible, surely 100 people will have at least one cash. As I speculated in another post - I expected the qualifying mark to be somewhere around 500 points.

Nah, that was a very rough estimation I made at the beginning based on the math of there being 43 tourney days times 3 per day times 800 points per tournament. Assuming exactly 150 players participate in this throughout, that would average out to around 688 points per person. So the top 100 out of 150, yes I figured 500 was a good estimation of what might be needed.

But problem is, based on what I've seen so far doesn't seem like it's a consistent set of 150 players. If there are more like 200 people making a concerted effort (though obviously not all playing every day), of course that will lower it a fair amount. 500 was more of a fail safe where I thought you would definitely qualify with that # rather than thinking it would be the minimum needed (i.e. if exactly 150 people participated in this from the start, each playing every day then I agree 100th would likely be around 500 points). But again that was under those exact "worst conditions" - I would have guessed the actual minimum to be a bit lower when this started, more like 425-450. And now that I've seen what's happening in the tourneys, I think it will be even lower than that, probably 375-400ish.

Yes, a tougher qualifying standard or something tiered to advantage the bigger totals would have worked better. People will drop off during the second half a bit. Which is a shame as the 50 stack tournies play really well IMHO.

I'm sure Drew will tune it as he goes to iron out the wrinkles though.

Yes bigger totals having some advantage is a reasonable idea. Nothing too extreme though as I can't forget good ole snipr2006 (scarf boy), and his horsemen (which is why I've never been in favor of awarding prizes just based on qualifying stage only). Some advantage is reasonable but should not give people motivation to do something of that sort.

Another idea which I personally would prefer is making the size of the final tournament smaller, say 50 people instead of 100. After all if 150-200 people are dedicated/semi-dedicated to qualifying for the final, more than 50% making it certainly contributes to making it perhaps too easy to qualify and thereby destroying the motivation to play once you've locked up a spot. And of course having a 1 in 50 chance of winning the final tourney instead of 1 in 100 is kind of nice after you've spent a couple months playing to lock up your spot
