Nasher, he is playing for the love of the game. Its the closing chapter on a great career. Golf allows for older players to keep playing. Hell there has been several 40+ year olds to win tournaments. Fuk Watson almost won the British Open a few years back and he is older than shit. It isn't like he is out there and people are trying to push him to give it up. It is exactly the opposite. People are still coming out in droves cheering him on. Many, including myself, hoping he will put it together for a weekend and take us down memory lane.
