                Coinbase is legit so I don't think that's a problem confirming your identity

                It's when online sports books ask for that info is when you have a problem

                  store the wallet folder on an external HDD and unplug the drive when not using Bitcoin Core... also save the 'back up' file on a 3rd drive like a thumb drive

                      I was thinking it might be for reporting in 2018 - not entirely sure but I've done many buys in the past without the request, so it seems odd.
