You can pump your own gas now.

    You're welcome.

Oregonians are now allowed to pump their own gas

OREGON (WTHR) — For decades, Oregonians have always had someone else pump their gas.
But a new law that was signed last year by Gov. Kate Brown took effect on Monday, and it requires people to self-serve at pumps, Business Insider reported.
The law more specifically no longer requires a gas attendant in cities with less than 40,000 people.
      And Oregonians are freaking out.
In a Facebook post, KTVL asked their audience what they thought about the new law.
Here are a few of the responses:
"No! Disabled, seniors, people with young children in the car need help. Not to mention getting out of your car with transients around and not feeling safe too. This is a very bad idea. Grrr," one woman wrote on Facebook.
"Not a good idea, there are lots of reason to have an attendant helping, one is they need a job too. Many people are not capable of knowing how to pump gas and the hazards of not doing it correctly. Besides I don't want to go to work smelling of gas when I get it on my hands or clothes. I agree Very bad idea.
Others found it sort of odd that there are parts of the U.S. where don't pump their own gas.
"If you read the comments on here you’d think that 48 other states are total anarchies run by neglectful parents and people who hate the elderly. Your kid can sit in the car for the 3 minutes it takes you to pump gas. It’s not about safety, you’re just lazy."
What anarchy riddled sort of state is Oregon that people are afraid of gas station transients? Is that a problem over there in the West, roving bands of gas station marauders?

Self serv gas is only in SOME areas of Oregon. Rural only, I think. I like having everything full serv here in the Portland area. I don't have to get out in the rain and smell the gas fumes. Let the lowlifes do it.

Well, she isn’t wrong. They would have lines miles long in NJ.
