Guarantee this has to do with money laundering and either mob guys or mob affiliated guys. If you read the story, it says players mailed in cash to play. $2.5 mils in cash doesn't just disappear. And with it operating in New York, there's no way that they would have permission to run an operation that size without mob approval or mob getting a cut.

They make it sound like a mom & pop local survivor pool....but with that amount of money involved and the feds involved, you can bet there's way higher actual "criminals" being investigated or had tipped them off to this.

Really feel bad for the guys that were still alive, who are not going to get paid anything even if they had won. The losers just lost their entry fees.

What I'm saying is the FBI would not take a case like this unless it was affiliated with some players in organized crime. FBI does not have the resources nor personnel to allocate time to stuff like this unless there was more to it. They are already understaffed as it is. Lot of FBI guys have been moved to homeland security since 9-11

That pool was crazy. I was in it for a couple years. Back in 2011/12. Would only accept entry fee by cash. Had to know a “captain” in order to be in league. They send out hilarious weekly emails, that will be missed. They for sure took a cut of the prize. So not looking good for them.

this is just theft by the fbi. law enforcement steals more from ppl that are never charged with a crime than all burglers combined in the US. they saw some easy money so they took it. same as with the poker site shutdowns where they blackmailed pokerstars to give them money and didnt care about prosecuting anyone. the other survivor pool that was shut down and had its funds confiscated still hasnt been tried in court in 5 and a half years.
