We need to talk about the TNF elephant in the room here
I checked the NFL forum and PT over the last couple days
and uncharacteristically nobody is really coming out on the
big TNF showdown which features New Orleans @ Atlanta.

Being an early appreciator of what the Saints are up to this season,
and an early cynic of the Falcons, I was originally tempted to take
the Saints, however that lean has gone away. The Saints are up against
a team at home that really needs this win and perhaps might stack up
against them in speed and talent, if not reliability.

Eager to re-establish offensive proficiencies after mustering only 9 points
Sunday against the Vikings, Atlanta will not be facing a pass rush or backfield
like Minnesota's. It will be a significant step down in opposition for them,
so expect the yards and first downs to accumulate with relative ease.
Devonta Freeman, in his return from 2-game injury last week, rushed for
74 yards. He isn't even mentioned on the IR and could have a big game.

Atlanta's IR sheet is a lot shorter than the Saints for this game, which
could be a factor coming off short rest on TNF.

In this situation, we have to be weary of riding the hot team (New Orleans)
on the road which doesn't need the win as badly as the 7-5 home team
that is guaranteed to give 100% effort.

Caveats include coaching and special teams. Dan Quinn has made some
questionable decisions and doesn't appear to have the same grasp on
getting the most out of his team as Sean Payton does.

    Still mulling this over...

Atlanta has the home field and preparation advantage and need this one much more than the Saints. Falcons are the play!

I believe the injury reports can be a big factor. It's a short week, that takes a big toll on the players.
Mark Ingram is questionable with his toe. Falcons linebackers matches up pretty good with Kamara.
And once again how is the status with Marshon Lattimore? If he's out, that defense isn't the same. If that's the case that's a huge advantage for the Falcons. With Lattimore out, Saints can't cover up the fact that they have the league's worst safety in Vaccaro. Just look at Cooper Kupps box score.

And to add to the mix, Falcons is a home underdog on primetime. And Saints on the road can be fishy.

I like Saints better in the long run. But in this game, I'm leaning towards Atlanta.

it's gonna take discipline but i may have to sit out.

                                  I can't take a prop because the last 2/3 times I took a prop
the player was a sure winner and got injured killing the bet.

Saints actually have a defense, Falcons have meh......

This will be a high scoring game but the Saints D makes a few plays to keep the dirty birds playing from behind.

                                      Best bet is the over!

The difference with that Saints pass defense without Lattimore is huge. I believe they went from #2 pass defense with him and way down to the bottom without him. I was on the Rams when they played the Saints without Lattimore and that Saints defense wasn't the same and it was a relatively easy win. Saints offense usually doesn't travel well but they have their running game this year. I can see Mark Ingram take advantage of the Falcons undersized (but fast) linebackers but Ingram has big problems with his toe and this is a short week. Health is a big factor on short weeks and Falcons is only missing 2 players.

Falcons has gone from underdog to favorite on my book overnight. I gotta go with my logic and that's Falcons plus the point.

Whether a team "needs" a win or not is rarely a factor in the NFL; I like the Saints.

I like how the total is steady at 51.5
may buy the hook to 51 Over
as 27-24 is 51 but only if it stays

Saints obviously had problems with the short week. Lattimore spent more time on the sideline inhaling oxygen or holding Julio than defending passes. Maybe Saints should have kept him healthy for the playoffs. I really like the Saints but Falcons should have won bigger today with all those brainless interceptions from Matt Ryan. They dominated the TOP in the second half.
