Very interesting move for a top caliber school to be honest...

When he started at WKU he took over a 2-10 team, and the best he got was 7-5....

Took over a 2-10 USF team, and got them to 10-2 with a bowl win...

7-5 first year at Oregon....

Just seems like a real half assed hire....

Look deeper. He went from 4-8 to 7-5 with his 8th string QB, and the team having to learn a new system (though not that new).

The USF transformation was impressive. Tennessee wanted him too. He real good.

Agree with Ralphie, you need to look deeper into Willie. Broke a 26 game losing streak at WKU. Got them to their first bowl game is forever, started to bring players from Florida to WKU on the recruiting trail which helped build his success at WKU. Take a look at the coaches who followed him, Willie brought in very good players. South Florida was another really good turnaround and he completely changed schemes his 2nd/3rd year to fit him and the athletes he was getting out of Florida.

I think it’s a really good hire, he will have no trouble getting anyone to come to FSU.

Well at least the guy has players for next season to make him look good. Hopefully the guy can recruit because if not he will probably be fired in 3 years when he runs out of Jimbos recruits.

Recruiting has never been a problem at FSU. They will get talent no matter who is coaching. The issue is always quality coaching. Same with Florida. Florida had a good coach in Spurrier. They were good. They hired an idiot in Ron Zook. They stunk. They hired a great coach in Urban Meyer. Back to great. Hire horrible coach in Muschamp.They stink. Same thing continues with McElwain.

anything will be better than Jimbo... Winston and arguably one of the most talented college teams of all-time made him look a lot better than he actually was . Guy is not a good coach by any means

Florida State will be on some type of probation within the next three years. When Schools start playing the race card, as Florida State obviously did, they are doing so to mitigate problems that the NCAA will nail them on. Their thought is to try and ease the punishment that they will receive by hiring minority HC. Florida State will not defeat Clemson for a long time now. They will probably sink to 3rd or worse in their Division.
